1. Gather your cleaning supplies- put aside old t-shirts and towels while sorting through clothes and cut them into cleaning rags. Mix up a simple all purpose, non-toxic cleaner; 1 cup of White Vinegar, 2 Cups Water, 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil; & 5 drop of Lemon Oil for a fresh scent. Place all ingredients in a jar, mix together and use as is or place in a clean spray bottle. Tea Tree Oil is powerful antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal oil made from the Australian Melaleuca tree.Remove all of the food from your refrigerator/freezer place in an insulated cooler and set aside. Unplug refrigerator. Remove drawers, shelving and wash in hot soapy water- use cleaning spray to spray down insides of refrigerator, let sit for a few minutes and wipe dry with cleaning rags.Plug in refrigerator and turn it back on.

    While the refrigerator is cooling down Go through contents of refrigerator and toss out old, outdated items, unknowns, condiments that you don’t use and anything that has been hiding – (you know any science experiments you may find).
  2. Open the windows and let a little fresh air in, do a quick spray and wipe down of the windows.
  3. Go through your cooking utensils, whisks, spoons, spatulas, wooden cooking utensils and give them a thorough cleaning. Replace cooking utensils that are broken or cannot be cleaned properly; look for where the handle is attacked to the main part of the utensil and make sure it is thoroughly sealed with no place to harbor bacteria.
  4. Sharpen and clean kitchen knives.
  5. Replace those old kitchen towels (that you cut up for rags), with some new cotton towels.
  6. Place a few pots of fragrant herbs on a kitchen window sill to freshen the room and bring a little Spring into your kitchen….rosemary, mint varieties or lavender are all delightful and can be replanted in your outdoor garden later in the season.
  7. Reward your hard work with a cup of your favorite relaxing tea blend. Detoxing takes time…you don’t have to take on the whole kitchen at once.
